So Cloudflare just launched EmDash an open-source “spiritual successor” to WordPress. And I already know some of you in the SEO world are thinking about spinning up PBN sites on it.
Don’t.
Here’s why.
Cloudflare IS the footprint. The entire point of a properly built PBN is eliminating shared footprints. different IPs, different hosting providers, different registrars, varied CMS fingerprints. EmDash is architecturally designed to run on Cloudflare Workers. Its main selling point, sandboxed plugin isolation, only works on Cloudflare’s infrastructure. So you’d be funneling all your PBN sites through one provider’s ecosystem. You might as well put a sign on every site that says “same owner.”
Serverless means no control. PBNs need you to own the hosting layer. IP diversity, server headers, DNS configuration, hosting provider variation that’s what makes a network look organic. EmDash’s serverless model runs on shared infrastructure, scales automatically, and leaves fingerprints everywhere pointing back to Cloudflare. That’s the opposite of what you want.
WordPress blending in is a feature, not a bug. WordPress powers over 40% of the internet. When your PBN sites run on WordPress, they look like literally every other site on the web. Running EmDash , a brand-new experimental CMS that maybe a few thousand developers are playing with is like tattooing “I’m technical enough to use bleeding-edge software on a site that only exists to host backlinks.” Nothing about that looks natural.
Your automation breaks. If you’ve built any kind of posting automation using the WordPress REST API — and you should have — all of that is gone. EmDash is a completely different platform with no stable API guarantees. You’d be rebuilding your entire workflow on a developer preview that might change everything in the next update.
Bottom line: WordPress isn’t your PBN’s weakness. It’s your camouflage. The massive install base makes your sites invisible. The REST API powers your automation. The hosting diversity you’ve built across different providers is exactly what EmDash’s architecture would destroy.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CLOUDFARE IF YOU WANT A PREMIUM PBN TO REMAIN SAFE. Know your tools, know your strategy.
